.......... Questo interessante saggio, che ha come sfondo culturale e formativo la proposta antropologica di Viktor E. Frankl, offre una serie di spunti di riflessione a opera di soggetti che possono vantare una vicinanza umana e professionale al mondo del carcere, che consente di poter affrontare le delicate tematiche ad esso correlate dalla postazione privilegiata dell'operatore. Al centro di ogni riflessione sul mondo del carcere viene opportunamente collocato il detenuto in quanto persona umana, portatore di numerosi bisogni e disagi di cui il carcere è spesso una causa. Se ben sfruttata, la detenzione può rappresentare un'occasione importante per la soluzione di alcune situazioni di disagio, così come risulta molto opportunamente dalla premessa, nella quale Eugenio Fizzotti propone l'esperienza straordinaria vissuta da Frankl con i detenuti del famoso carcere di San Quentin in California. Potremmo, quindi, dire che la volontà di tutti i relatori è quella di immaginare un nuovo modo di concepire l'istituzione carceraria non più solo come luogo di neutralizzazione della devianza, ma anche come luogo di attenzione e di recupero del detenuto e dei suoi vissuti umani.

Il volume riprende una tematica di ricerca (e non solo di ricerca) che ha trovato espressione internazionale nella prima conferenza, tenutasi a Vancouver nel 2000, con il significativo titolo "Ricerca di senso nel nuovo millennio". Si tratta certamente di un tema da affrontare da un punto di vista multidimensionale, nonostante come interrogativo esso si sia proposto attraverso i secoli, trovando di volta in volta sia nella riflessione filosofica dell'Occidente che nella meditazione religiosamente connotata risposte più o meno convincenti. La cornice teorica che fa da sfondo e da premessa al volume è il pensiero di Viktor E. Frankl, cui si deve l'elaborazione di quella particolare forma di psicoterapia che è nota come logoterapia e analisi esistenziale. Nutrito di fenomenologia (quella di Scheler, prima ancora che quella classica di Husserl), il pensiero di Frankl ha posto permanentemente l'accento sulla struttura intenzionale della condizione umana, condizione che implica di necessità il riferimento al senso e al valore, l'apertura verso l'autotrascendenza e la spiritualità (pur se va riconosciuto che è limitativo ogni tentativo di ridurre il concetto a una specifica connotazione religiosa). Il volume presenta i risultati di un'ampia ricerca effettuata su un campione di 3014 adolescenti utilizzando come strumento principale il Purpose in Life Questionnaire (PIL), integrato con altri test finalizzati a verificare la soddisfazione di vita, l'autoefficacia regolatoria percepita, l'ottimismo, la prospettive temporale, il disagio psicologico, i sentimenti di sicurezza presenti nelle relazioni con genitori e con coetanei. Il volume apre prospettive di ricerca promettenti, mostrando che è possibile tentare di arricchire con una dimensione di indagine empirica qualificata prospettive teoriche e psicoterapeutiche (come quella rispettabilissima di Frankl) oggi più che mai attuali.

Si se repasa la historia de la medicina del último siglo, es fácil advertir que se han sucedido diversos modelos médicos, cada uno de ellos solidario con el espíritu de la época o, como quería Ortega, con el “tema de nuestro tiempo”. Los autores desde la primera pagina del libro y, bajo la guía segura del “maestro Frankl”, reivindican la necesidad del enfoque antropológico en la teoría y la práctica médica. Se trata de volver a la integridad, totalidad y unidad de la persona, para desde aquí sentar las bases de la comprensión cabal de la persona enferma y de un abordaje terapéutico en consonancia con ella. La persona es definida como “ lo heredado, lo heredado y lo aprendido y lo decidido”, lo que incluye el ser del hombre y sus diversos grados y modos en la unidad y totalidad personal. A partir de esta idea central, los autores nos ofrecen una lograda articulación de tres elementos con los que construyen su visión de la medicina: la persona del asistido, la persona del asistente y la relación persona asistida- persona asistente. Toda una arquitectura del pensamiento y la acción. El largo,erudito y actualizado capítulo dedicado a la psicofarmacología, así como el que aborda el novedoso concepto de resiliencia, son muestras evidentes no solo de la apertura intelectual de los autores sino, además, de que la visión bio- psico- socio- espiritual del hombre no es mera declamación sino una realidad operante.
